Up early because we are to meet Brad for breakfast and go see his place.
Ron and Laura are up. Laura is still not feeling well and they opt to stay at the hotel until we are done with our BDB visit. We meet at a casino restaurant where the food is good but I admit I had a Best Western waffle before I got there so I could not finish all of the food.
Brad takes us to his unique place. A little 500 square foot house, just a perfect bachelor pad. He has brightened the neighborhood by painting it white with red trim. There is a full basement/garage benieth. He says he has hauled literally tons of junk off of the property and fixed up the shop. that is made out of ammunition containers! Amazing. He has plans for a man cave with a fine old pot bellied stove that was left there. It still has all the old chrome on it. For fun he takes his quad out and prospects for junk. He has found the remains of an old trunk. He has a lot of his old rolling stock in a container and we get to take a look at some of that. We are happy he is happier and seems to be doing pretty good. We always loved BDB.
After yesterday we are hoping for no rain. The weather is cool. The two lane is very smooth. We crank it up to 70 and I am "Pushing Wind"
There are no sandy gusts blowing across the road.
The rain clouds are not being driven in.
The thing that makes my leather straps flap
Is me, pushing wind!
Sometimes I make wind.
Sometimes I break wind!
Sometimes I shout or laugh.
Sometimes I sing!
But whether it is the boredom or the drama
It's still me, pushing wind!
We drive by Walker Lake . The popcorn clouds reflect prettily in the water. At the far end of the lake one rebel rain cloud spills it contents into the lake. Very cool.
We stop for a snack in Yerrington. Gary reminds me we have been there before (going east on our big Camper trip). Out of all of Nevada Yerrington is very green, very rural.
We find the new road that Brad described, a short cut between 50 and 80. It is four lane and nice road but busier than he described. It ends at a huge industrial park being constructed east of Reno. At the end of the Junction we are back on crazy Interstate 80 and driving through Reno Audubon traffic.
We get to John and Carolyn's, who have had flu but are feeling better. Ron and Laura will stay with them. Gary and I leave the little party to go to Carrie's before she gets home. We are greeted by Sammy and Shilo "The Pups". They are so sweet and loving.
We all meet for dinner at Casa Grande to eat and swap stories. Most fun visiting with my Reno besties and sitting next to my beautiful daughter. The only things better would be Justin and Mariah to be there too. Ah well. Hopefully next time.
At dinner, departure is discussed. The weather looks sketchy after Tuesday so we decided to blaze away from Reno in the morning. We are looking at that 'weather window'.
As I nap, Justin gets home from Jury duty. An interesting experience he says. We have a nice visit until I can't keep my eyes open any longer. To short a visit for me.
